New mobile generator delivers lowest cost per kVA thanks to EPA flex rules
According to Erik Wilde, executive vice president for Generac Commercial and Industrial Products, the company’s new MMG625VT2 mobile generator offers rental customers a very powerful generator while also delivering the lowest cost per kVA on the market.
“The new MMG625VT2 is not only our most powerful trailer-mounted unit ever,” he said. “With a cost per kVA in prime-power applications of just above $400, we think it will make a very attractive investment for rental companies.”
Delivering 503 kW/629 kVA prime and 550 kW/688 kVA standby power via a Marathon brushless alternator, the MMG625VT2 is driven by a 16 L, turbocharged Volvo Penta Tier 2-compliant engine. Wilde said that Generac Mobile Products was able to exercise U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) flex credits that allowed the company to defer Tier 4 implementation for this generator until the end of 2017.
The 653 gal. fuel tank provides nearly 19 hours of continuous running time at full load.
“Because there’s no exhaust aftertreatment, engine maintenance is simplified, too,” Wilde said. “There are no DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) tanks to fill or particulate filters to maintain. That means easier maintenance for rental companies and end users alike.”
Additional features of the MMG625VT2 include a sound-attenuated aluminum cabinet that keeps sound levels to 83 dB(A) at 23 ft. during prime-power operation. The unit’s large doors and optional interior lighting helps make routine maintenance easier. A ladder that conveniently stows inside the cabinet allows operators to access the roof lifting eye. Side fork pockets increase the lifting options on the jobsite, as well. Powder-coat paint helps ensure ultimate rust protection.
Behind a dedicated door is the unit’s standard Power Zone controller, which offers an easy-to-use interface and enhanced programmability, including automatic start/stop and paralleling capability.
Designed for operation in all weather conditions, the MMG625VT2 mobile gen-set has a cooling system that allows for operation in ambient temperatures up to 115°F (49°C). When the weather turns cold, a 2500W inline engine block heater ensures reliable start-ups.
Given the EPA flex rules, Wilde said the MMG625VT2 mobile generator would only be available throughout 2017, and only while engine supplies last.
